BOAT INTERNATIONAL June 2012 (#312)
For the June issue we look at Abeking & Rasmussen’s development of the SWATH platform for superyachts with the striking 62m concept it is working on with Reymond Langton Design and in a different take on superyachting of the future, Arcadia Yachts’ first 115, named M Ocean, which has the distinctive design DNA of its 85 and packs in the same technological foresight. Other yachts under the spotlight include the 54.9m Harbour Island, CRN’s semi-custom 43m Lady Trudy and the 30.5m Merlin 100 ketch which spawned a new series. We also launch a new series of exclusive owner interviews with digital and telecoms titan Charles Dunstone who talks about his passion for yachting, and in the Ocean Traveller section cruise Turkey’s Bosphorus Strait on motor yacht Kivircik.

BOAT INTERNATIONAL May 2012 (#311)
For the May issue of Boat International we watched 13 sailing superyachts engage in an epic battle at the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous, in the BVIs. Back on solid ground we delved into the fascinating world of superyacht refits and the mammoth works undertaken by HYS Yachts in the Philippines. HYS has been converting commercial vessels to sturdy superyachts for more than a decade, including the 55m Ark Angel – on which HYS has just completed its third refit for her third owner. We also took a look at three brand new yachts, each entirely different: the 70.5m Talisman C, the 64.5m Seanna, and the 45m Karia…

BOAT INTERNATIONAL April 2012 (#310)
In the April issue we look at two very different builds – one in Asia, one in Egypt – which both presented considerable challenges. Chris Lenz’s journey to build his dream 31.7m sailing yacht starts in China and ends in Thailand, while Philippe Maari chose to build his futuristic, wave-piercing 24m catamaran Tamari in Egypt during the recent revolution. The cover yacht is Diamonds Are Forever, John Staluppi’s astonishing 61m Benetti that must be the most luxurious charter yacht afloat. Other boats featured are the 45m Pamela V, and the Alpha 76 Cheoy Lee’s terrific 23 metre express cruiser. The Ocean Traveller ventures to the Southeast Asian island of East Timor with Golden Compass.

BOAT INTERNATIONAL JANUARY 2012 (#307)
In the January issue of Boat International we discover why you should never call designers ‘stylists’ in our Superyacht Design feature. We also feature several diverse yachts that display how designers’ talents stretch beyond what the late Jon Bannenberg described as the ‘flimsy tweaking of a structure’, from the 100m Attessa IV – fresh from a one million man-hour rebuild by serial owner Dennis Washington – and the 50m Trinity Falcon, designed for an owner who enjoys all-action cruises and fishing trips with his friends, to the first yacht to emerge from Palumbo – Prima – and Cobra Yacht’s modern take on the traditional Turkish ketch in Infinity. Finally, there’s the Darwin 86, a true pocket superyacht that offers a wealth of space for an excellent price.

BOAT INTERNATIONAL DECEMBER 2011 (#306)
If Autumn is closing in on Boat International's HQ, there was little respite for those of us at the Fort Lauderdale show either, with torrential downpours flooding many parts of the town and the show area. However, on board the magnificent 134m Serene, the weather takes on an altogether different meaning — the yacht features its own snow room, capable of producing three to four inches of snow, for those indulging in a sauna in the stern's enormous spa. Throw in a 15m pool, heli hangar, generous yet intimate guest spaces and a level of finish that is second to none, and you have a truly remarkable superyacht. Read all about Serene exclusively in the December issue of Boat International.
